Handmade Birch Wood Pumpkins

These pumpkins started with a simple idea: make a fall decoration using the natural shape of a tree branch. I use real birch for the pumpkin, basswood for the stem, and curled walnut shavings for the little vines.

I leave the bark and natural character of the wood, so no two pumpkins look exactly the same. The grain, knots, colors, and shapes are all part of what I like about them.

Each pumpkin is about 3 to 7 inches in diameter. You can order one or a set of three. When I put a set together, I do my best to include a mix of sizes.

Materials: birch, basswood, and walnut.
